EFFECTIVE STUDYING TECHNIQUES

1. Rest your Mind
Based from experience, studying can be mentally stressful. It is best that one must relax before taking on the challenge.

   a. Sleep. One of my favorite things to do before studying is taking a power nap. It is very effective especially after a long day from school. Also, by doing this you ‘ll have the energy to do an overnight study session.

   b. Take five to ten minutes break. Yes, I do believe in information overload. Take a break, this can be the perfect excuse to check your facebook, twitter or instagram accounts. haha

2. Remove all distractions.
It is indeed hard to resist the temptations of social media but with enough will power, I believe you can.

   a. Airplane mode. This is probably the best solution to have temporary isolation (from the internet). It doesn’t only  block notifications but it also saves battery power! Also, you can bring internet back with just one tap šŸ˜‰

3. WRITE AND RE-WRITE
I have this hobby of writing what I memorize. After reading the context, I look for the most efficient key word that is easy to remember and write it down as many times possible. This can also be your spelling practice for the exam

   a. Patterns and rhymes. Be creative. Associating a word to something similar will help you memorize faster. Acronymns can be very effective with topics that have enumerations.

4. FIND YOUR HAPPY PLACE
Location can be a factor that can either distract you or motivate you while studying. Personally, I prefer a quiet environment: me with the echo of my scribbling. But if you are the type of person who study with music, that is okay as well.

5. STUDY IN GROUPS.
I prefer this situation when the subject is related to Mathematics. It is okay to ask your friends if you really do not understand the subject. Friends help each other, right?
   a. Mini quiz bee. This is where one of your friends asks a bunch of different questions about the subject. This allows you to test what you already know and skim all those you have forgotten.

HOW TO GET OVER BROKEN FRIENDSHIP

1. NEVER THINK YOU’RE THE BAD FRIEND

Arguments that end with “friendship over” is definitely depressing. You often find yourself reminiscing that certain moment over and over, analyzing what you did wrong, and asking yourself what more you can do to make it right? But honestly, there is nothing more for you to do.Ā

You have apologized already.Ā Apologising is an act that takes pride and shows great concern for that special friend. If not taken, it’s okay.Ā You have your conscience cleared, now its time for you to move on and be happy.

2. LEARN THAT LIFE IS NOT OVER

Not to sound rude but, you have spent x years of your life without that friend and you’ll live more of your life without them. Yes, you had your special bond, but it was broken. No, i am not saying your friendship was fake, i’m saying it was shallow. True friendships don’t break easily, even in the most devastating storm.

3.Ā BE BRAVE TO TAKEĀ SECOND CHANCESĀ

There are situations where one adapts the fear of losing a friend thus leadingĀ Ā to a lifestyle of isolation. But allowing that fear to take over your life will only make thingsĀ worse.

Not wanting friends mean that you are still indulged by the guilt of losing one. Learn to forgive yourself the same you learned how to forgive your lost friend. It is not easy but with time, it will. Remember that “No man is an island” hence, sooner or later you’ll have to need a friend or two.

4.Ā ONE DOOR CLOSES; TWO DOORS OPEN

Friends are everywhere, you just have to search earnestly to find the real ones. Don’t let one experience shut you out, use it as a life lesson that sometimesĀ people do come and go.

5. TREASURE THE MEMORY

From bestfriends to acquiantances. Accept the fact that you will never be like before. The outcome is indeed sad, but always remember that that person used to be your friend and your friendship made you who you are. Don’t let those memories haunt you negatively, instead treat it as a treasure that at some point in your life, you were friends, and possibly, someday again (though don’t count on it! Haha).
